Half hour late

I heard the familier sound of the beat up truck, but refused to look at it. It continued to slow down, I walked faster.
‘Hey, knock it off already and get in!’
That was the last thing I wanted to do, the very last thing.
I could tell he was getting upset, and it was better for me if he stayed calm, so I reluctantly stopped walking.
I let out a sigh. ‘There is no getting away is there?’ I said under my breath.
‘Let’s go!’ he growled out the drivers window.
I let out a sigh as I walked to the passengers side and hopped in.
‘Geez, you had me worried for a second there.’
As if you’re capable of worring about anyone but yourself. I thought bitterly.
I scoffed at the empty beer bottles on the floorboard. ‘Are those all from today, or did you rationalize them this time?’
He looked at me hatefully saying, ‘At least I picked you up, alright, Penny.’
Thank God for that. You were only a half hour late. I thought sarcasticly…..
