Knowing NYC won’t help you decipher the hidden message, but you may get more recognition of its meaning if you know the city and are able to decipher the message…

Okay, so only two people have sent me notes with the correct answer for the hidden message. So here’s my first hint: Consider how Bob received the message from his wife. And why would she place the word POUND all in caps?
