Lucked out (part 3)

Jane scowled at me, wrinkling up her pinchy nose and squinting her cat green eyes. She opens her mouth to say something, then closes it again. I’m glad she didnt say anything, its usually insulting or lies.

“Jane.” Mum says calmly, at an attempt to reason with her.

Jane’s head snapped around to meet mums glare, spraying her straw straight bottle blonde hair around her and wipping her face. She just stared at mum through narrowed eyes and a curtain of straw.

“What?” Jane said in a I-hate-you-all kind of voice that makes me want to lash out and hit her.

“Change! Right now.”

“Make me!” And with that Jane picked up her school bag from beside her bedroom door (where she always keeps it) andslumps it onto her shoulder. Then she pushed past mum and stomped down the hall and out the door, with a slam of course.

“That kid will be the death of me. I swear.” Mum mumbled to herself.

I just got m school bag and silently got into the white commodor. Mum followed with the keys and shut the front door.
