Any writer will tell you that his is possibly one of the loneliest jobs on the planet. He sits in a room by himself, staring at a computer screen, and hoping that somehow lightning will shoot from his fingertips and become something worth reading.

And on the off chance that magic does happen for this writer, and his story is written and published, it’s rare that he’ll get direct feedback from his audience. He may get notes from his editor or publisher, or read a review in The New York Times, even be stopped on the street by a fan of his work. But for the most part the writer is alone in his endeavors.

Ficlets alleviates that isolation. Writers who post to the site get feedback on their work relatively quickly, and are encouraged to provide feedback on the work of their peers.
