Empty Promises
I’m not who you think I am, I am a flawed hero with a tattered cape.
You think I can leap tall buildings, you think I can fly, you think I can fix all that is wrong and make things right just because I promised I would.
You trust me, I can’t think why.
Can I make promises with my heart and mind and soul that you will believe?
You’ve been hurt before I know, trusting is new to you.
Am I a cad, a Villain to end all villains? Or just a man pretending to be a saint, a hero, a knight in flannel armor?
Am I a promise keeper? I guess that is for you to decide.
If you can but love me enough to see through my flaws, my persona, maybe my promises won’t be empty ones.
