Two Good Singers

“It’s okay,” said Wes, “I’ll be fine.”

“Are you sure?” asked Joe. “Yeah,” she replied.

“Well,” Nick said, trying to change the subject, “you both sounded great together! You’ve both got great voices.”

“And some rockin’ guitar skills,” added Kevin.

“Thanks,” we both laughed and smiled. I had never sung in front of anybody before, and now the Jonas Brothers were telling me I was good!

“You guys would make an awesome band!” Joe said jokingly.

Wes and I laughed. But, deep down, a part of me wondered about what Joe had just said.

When it was time for bed, Wes and I shared a room. We talked for a while about our family, how long we had been Jonas Brothers fans, everything.

“These past few days have been the best days of my life,” she told me.

“Me too,” I said.

“You know, I never really had a good life. I’ve lived with my uncle for a long time. He’s so mean sometimes. I don’t even know if he likes me…or wants me. Sometimes I’m afraid he’s going to abandon me.”
