Chaya reached down and grabbed her phone, quickly turning off the ringer.

Dad calling? He’s knows I’m in school.. She wondered. But she just shrugged it off as a mistake and went back to her homework.

A few minutes later she checked her phone again. 10 missed calls and 4 voicemails from Dad.. Something must be up.. Chaya quietly rose from her desk and walked up to her teacher. She asked for a pass to the restroom, which he gave her, and she sped-walked down the hall.

In the Girl’s room, Chaya listened to her voicemail first.

“Chaye, hunny.” Her dad’s voice. _“Call me as soon as you get this okay?” Her dad sounded a little bit desperate, so Chaya decided to call him instead of listening to the other messages.

“Hey, Dad.” She said into her phone.

“Chaya? Oh Chaya! I have something I need to tell you..” Her dad spoke quickly and clearly. “Your Mom was in a car accident this morning. I’m on my way to the hospital right now. Grandma will pick you up soon.”
