remembering things

Brady smiled, but he honestly believed that his father had gone off and left him alone with me. No, it wouldn’t have been fine, but a small joke seemed to cheer him a little in the quiet school.
There was a knock on the baby blue metal door and Seth’s face appeared in the window. “See! I told you he didn’t frget you!” I gave Brady a small nudge towards the door, where he ran and opened it, latching on to his father’s leg. “Sorry I’m late Brady. Traffic was insane.” “I was scared you ran off with a woman.” “What? And replace my movie buddy? Never.” He looked up and we smiled at each other, his in thanks, mine in nostalgia, but he’d never know. “So… thanks for watching him for me…” I smiled, “Not a problem, it’s what I get paid for remember.” He stood and shook my hand gently, “I don’t believe we were properly introduced. My name’s Seth. Seth Bale.” I smiled, and said, “You really don’t remember me?” He thought for a moment. “Michaels isn’t my maiden name. Jennifer Pikes.” He gasped. He really remembered.
