Honor Among Thieves

“I can’t believe you killed Karl, man,” said Thomas, his face twitching nervously, as he paced the room. “That just wasn’t right, killing one of the crew.”

“We’re nothing without our principles. Besides, we now only have to split our haul four ways.”

“Forgetting about me, sweetie?” The bank teller asked, clearly smitten.

“Forgive me if I correct you, but technically, my darling, you are a hostage.”

She kissed him, wistfully, and said, “I think I stopped being a hostage the moment you saw me naked.”

“Well, in that case. Forgive me Thomas, but haven’t you seen what happens when someone questions my authority?”

Thomas slumped to the floor before he knew what hit him, the bullet lodged in his skull. The other two bullets also hit their mark, killing Alonzo and David.

“What happened to honor among thieves?” the attractive, young bank teller asked, a smile forming.

“Oh, I value it very much.” He responded, “But with rising gas prices and inflation, I had to make a few adjustments to my payroll.”
