Sleep

Tod’s mom greeted us as we piled into her giant ford van. We all got into the back seats and dropped our packs at our feet.
“Wait…if it’s Brett’s house we are going to, then how come Tod’s mom is taking us?” I whispered to Mike, I could tell it was him because I could strongly smell body spray deodorant emanating from the person next to me.
“Brett’s parents got to the vacation house in advance, and Tod’s mom has to go on business trip to Colorado a lot, so she knows the way best.” Mike explained.
“You guys ready to go?” Tod’s mom called back.
We all cheered a “yeah!” and I felt a gentle force pushing me back in my seat. The van was moving.
I was going to be a long day’s trip. South Dakota was pretty far away from Colorado. I wanted to call Hayley but, for really no reason, I decided against it.
I felt the bright winter sun shining on my shoulders from the windows as I felt the car’s air conditioning cool my head. I could hear Todd and Brett chatting away as Mike turned his game boy on as I went to sleep.
