Ficlets

Hypocrisy is alive and well

The sun scorches down on the blasted plain. Where a few short years ago verdant grass had warred with riverside lilies, now there was desert scrubland. A dry riverbed meanders through the soil with no water to turn its dust to mud.

A tarmac river crosses the dusty one, and next to it a massive billboard: “Gasco Super Unleaded Fuel – Gets you there faster”

And in a subscript it reads “Gasco cares for the environment. Last year we commissioned three solar farms contributing almost 10 megawatts to the electricity grid”
