End of the Drought Pt. 4

It was unique. The outside was made of a tough, but breathable rubber material, that cut fairly easy with a kitchen knife. It was filled with a clear fluid. Under that was a light, intricate metal framework, like a fabric less umbrella. It was still sparking and beeping the whole time, a point that worried me more than a little.
Finally getting it down to just the framework, we came to a standstill. The case had no fasteners that we could see, just smooth metal. A few tried rubbing it different ways, then moved on to hammers, which succeeded in denting it and making the beeping louder, when finally someone rounded up a torch.
A mistake. The second the flame of the torch touched it, it went up faster than a tinderbox, almost blinding everyone standing over it, a few getting some pretty good burns. Unfortunately, no one had thought to remove the squid from the truck before starting. The resulting explosion temporarily put an end to our hopes of shedding light on the mystery. Time to await their next move.
