I agree completely. I tried to suggest it would be a courtesy to label the ficlet mature and remove a certain word from the title. Next thing I knew those two writers, who MyName Is mentioned, started attacking one of my stories, calling me names. By the way, if any of my stories should be labeled mature, send me a note and I’ll make them mature. Sometimes, I have difficulty trying to decide exactly what is mature :)

Go Kermitgorf! It seems to be the new people and then later they get how we don’t like it. I wonder who the two people are. I will sure give em a piece of my mind. I don’t get how writting can be sluty-like and still be called a creative story. I don’t get it when my friends swear and talk about things offensive. Just like I don’t get why people write about things like that. What are they compinsating for something?

I completely agree, know the two to which you are referring and have made use of the “report” button (which I have only done one other time.) I try my best to ignore ignorance, however this is such a wonderful community I see no reason we should be subjected to the blatant disregard of our comforts because of their “creative rights.” Afterall, the First Amendment can only be pushed so far. ;)

I reported this same kid as well. I think the last thing we need here is a-hole troll ruining it for everyone else. There is enough of that kind of garbage polluting the rest of the internet.

@thebetweenspace: I suggest you send a note to Kevin reporting this abuse. I don’t want to censor anyone, but harassment is something that should not be tolerated.

i completely agree. i know which two people you mean, who write bad stories and bad comments. i think it needs to be reported to Kevin, and stopped.
And if one of my ficlets should be rated mature, or u find anything offensive, please please tell me.

The two mentioned have grossly flouted the Community Standards outlined at the bottom of the page time and again, both in their own Ficlets and in their comments to others. Although their appearances on the site have been sporadic, it has been going on for months. I believe that serious disciplinary action is in order here for these two, which may include deletion of offending material to monitoring of future postings to permanent banning from the site.

There’s no excuse for using obscenities in the subject line of your post. None.

You’ve got a whole post to do that sort of thing in, as long as you mark it mature. (Which you should if you use harsh language.)

I agree fully with what you said. I have not had access to this site for two days so I am still trying to play catch-up. However, I have the jist of whats going on. Totally not cool. Where is Kevin when you need him!? I mean seriously, this is his brain child and all, shouldnt he be monitoring stuff like this periodicly???

Kevin took care of the problem, quickly and I applaud him for it.

Ok, I have a question about what is rated mature or not.
Occasionally I have characters that say, or think, some profanic words. If it’s just one or two, I typically don’t mark it mature. If it’s more than twice, I do. Is this ok or would it be better if I marked all stories that had any profanity mature?
I’ll keep checking here for replies, or someone note me. I don’t want to offend anyone!

I completely agree with this. Ficlets is an awesome outlet for writers, and should not be tainted by those who can’t think of anything more creative than an obscene title/ficlet/whatever.

Agreed! But I must also say that titles that are longer than the content of the acutal Ficlet are rather irritating also.

yes exactly plus there are some yonger kids on the site if they accidentally stumble on a story that isn’t marked mature that should they might not be aloud back on
