You definitely don’t want to name your daughter after Power Girl. That’s like guaranteeing she’ll grow up to be a stripper.

But, BARomeo: what are the sources of the names Roxanne and Caitlin? I’m a comic book super-geek and I’m stumped.

This is hilarious (and so could have been a conversation between so many friends of mine.) Wonderful banter between the parents-to-be :) I also imagine the convo between Nicholas Cage and his (wife? Fiancee? Girlfriend? Who knows) went whe they were expecting their son (whom the named Kal El.)

Haha! The idea for this Ficlet, aside from Ridcully’s Challenge, was a discussion I was having with some friends about how Cage, by naming his kid Kal-El, was just asking for trouble.
Also Kevin Smith, who named his kid Harley Quinn, after the Batman villain.

Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t get every reference, and I’m a pretty big comic book geek myself. My vote would be for Kitty, not that I’d even bring this stuff up with my my wife. Hmm, then again, she doesn’t know that many comic book references. Thanks for the idea!

I suppose it could have been worse: he could have named his kid Johnny Blaze Cage or something.

And let’s not forget, Nicolas Cage is named after a comic book character.

His given name is Nicolas Coppola (he’s Francis Ford Coppola’s nephew.) He changed his name to Nic Cage after Luke Cage, aka Power-Man.

I thought of Nicolas Cage as well.
my mothers name was Kathryn, nickenamed Kitty, so I am partial to that name.
The wity banter between the soon to be parents was very funny, especially the comic book obssessed dad to be.
