Macy 21: Standing Up
The following Friday, Macy walked through the school halls avoiding all the people she didn’t want to see. That was mainly everyone she held so close. But soon enough, Shane cornered her in the hall.
“Hey babe.” He kissed her cheek happily, but she flinched; they were the same lips on that random girl. “What’s up?”
“Oh I’ll tell you what’s up.” Macy hissed, “I saw you. I saw you cheating on me!” Her voice rose and people gaped. It’s not often that you see the jock and a girl arguing.
“I don’t like that tone.” Shane stated.
“I could careless! You don’t own me Shane! But you treat me like you do! So you know what, we’re done!” Macy smiled internally; she had finally stood up for herself.
But when she walked around him, Shane grabbed her arm. “Dumped and done are not in my vocabulary.”
“Not that I’m surprised about that, but you just said them both.” She pulled free and went down the hall to find Derrick next.
She saw him sitting alone outside, with a book.
“Derrick…” Macy began.
