Just A Little First Kiss

Out in the hall, she turns to me. Her: You should probably go home, Drew. I don’t want your mom freaking out anymore than she probably already is.
Me(annoyed): I don’t care. I’ll stay.
She looks at me sadly. Her:He’s out of danger now, Drew. Thanks for everything, but I need to talk to my dad now. I have some money if you need it for a taxi.
I shook my head sharply. Me: No, you don’t have to. Are you… are you sure you don’t want me to stay?
She sighed. Her:We’ll be ok, Drew. We survived fine before I met you.
I frowned and pulled her close to me. Me:But that’s just it. You were ‘fine.’ I want you to be happy.
She looked defiant. Her: I am happy.
I stared down at her strong eyes, her soft nose, her gentle lips that were pulled into an angry frown. I chuckled, leaning down to kiss them. Me: No you’re not.
She didn’t struggle as I gently kissed her, holding onto the moment, before I let go of her, speaking as I walked away. Me:I’ll see you at school tomorrow then.
She stared after me, looking shocked.
