Just to clarify, as apparently I’m being obtuse lately, I didn’t mean this to be a prank. He tries to tell her not to expect what he knows she might expect. He knows it’s bad and tries to soften the blow. I don’t know why there’s a finger in the box either, but I didn’t mean it (um, the character didn’t mean it) as a sick joke.

I was thinking from the last ficlet that it could be a proposal, but then it was also talking about how he was really sorry for her that she had to be with him. So I didn’t think he would want to prolong that by marrying her.
Is he in the mafia? Bum bum bumm…
