Kisses And Rain
I can see Kahn at the edge of the trees. I grabbed Mike’s face, crushed my lips into his and watched Kahn walk away quickly.
Mike broke away suddenly.
Mike: Demi, I’m so sorry. This is all so crazy and stupid.
Me: Oh my god, don’t be. You did nothing wrong.
Mike looked at the sand.
Mike: If I’d come early, he wouldn’t have…
Me: It’s okay, Mike, don’t be sorry.
Mike: If you say so.
He kissed my cheek and we settled together on the log.
Me: Mike, you know what I need?
Mike: What?
Me: You. And that’s it. So don’t worry about anything. I never fell for him and I love you more than anything right now. You’re just what I need.
Mike didn’t reply to that; he probably couldn’t come up with anything as equally lovey dovey.
Mike: Demi.
Me: Yes?
I was expecting the lovey dovey part still.
Mike: Look at the sky. It looks so dark, like it’s going to rain really hard.
Me: Oh my god, it’ll probably rain tonight.
Mike: Not good.
Me: Not at all. So um, what can we do about rain?
