A Good Cause
At first Tom was quiet, staring at nothing with his mouth slightly hanging open like he did sometimes. If it wasn’t for his impeccable GPA , I swear sometimes I would think he was just another dumb jock.
“What do you say, man. Are we on?” I prodded gently, not wanting to push him too far.
Tom looked at me, his mouth twisting in that crooked smile that girls swooned over. I knew that Jodi wouldn’t be able to resist Tom, once he turned on the charm.
“We’re on,” he said, flexing his arms. “Been a while since I’ve used my devastating good looks to get a girl, but hey, I guess it’s for a good cause.”
“The best cause,” I said firmly as I reached out to shake his hand and seal the deal.

The next day Tom “accidentally” ran into Jodi after she got out of her Biology class. He made fun of me when he realized that I’d memorized Jodi’s schedule, but he had to admit that this helped our plan immensely.
Well, anyways he was able to convince her to go on a date with him this weekend. Friday couldn’t come soon enough.
