Ooh, looks like you nailed us all with the surprise ending. I still think you left it open enough that it could be a few different things (murder, accident, omission or failure to save, metaphorical). Very touching and sweet throughout to really set up that last line.

I agree with everybody, it’s so amazing. The ending makes you feel a little pang in your chest. You connected with the reader, I think everybody felt it.
