Beneath The Surface .4. apparition
Now they stood watching D-S Lee and the suspect.
“I’m telling you man,” the suspect hissed angrily, “The only thing I’m guilty of is bad security, I’m just not a geek! I don’t know anything about that security stuff. Somebody HACKED me and planted those pics on my drive!”
The sheen of perspiration on the suspect’s skin, clenched fists, face suffused with anger, tense aggressive sitting posture – all said angry wrongfully accused victim.
William said as much. Ephraim Smith smiled and raised a hand. “Wait, just watch what happens next.”
Lee, still sitting back in his chair, reached forward and silently placed a small brown rectangle on the dully reflective table. As they watched, it stirred! Spindly legs! sprouted and what now looked like an inch-long brown roach began to move towards the startled suspect.
“What the … you mean those are real?”, William gaped. He’d heard stories of these, but thought them a techie myth.
Smith chuckled.
That was when William saw a man materialise in the interview room.
