The dialog in that fifth paragraph eludes me. Otherwise a nice, close-up view of a larger problem/tragedy/horror.

Yeah, I agree with THX , there’s some funny wording going on, you may need to check that out. Besides that, though, this sounds really intriguing! Is this the beginning of a longer story, or just a one-shot?

Cool little idea, if not done before. Though I do like where you took the picture – and especially how you described it.
