Rumors
I was putting my bike into place at school. I walked by with my textbooks in hand, I heard a group of girls whispering.
Of course, me being the curious girl I am, I parked myself behind the lockers and listened inconspicuously.
“Did you hear?”
“What?”
“There’s a weirdo going around in our town.”
“Oh, my God! What happened?”
“Well, people say that he’s a…”
The girl lowered her voice, and I strained my ears. It didn’t help when the rest of the girls around her squealed in fright.
“A rapist?!” one of them hissed.
A lump formed in my throat.
“He’s already had about two victims,” the other answered.
I shook my head, and slammed my locker shut, drawing unwanted attention to myself.
It was probably just another rumor. I sat myself down in Music class, and looked out the huge, glass window.
Rumor, right?
