Land of Confusion: Codename Genesis
Entry 125: 3:27am
Watching YouTube has never been this productive. I seem to have stumbled across something tonight, or this morning, however you want to look at it, accidentally. Or maybe, “they” felt it was my time.
Eve stopped typing after hitting save and dripped a couple of faux tears from the Visine bottle into each eye. She re-arranged the windows on the screen to watch just one more time before continuing the recording of her research.
In 1986, the band Genesis released the song Land of Confusion along with a video by Spitting Image in which conditions of political nature portrayed a world in turmoil caused by environmental “dangers,” wars, unstable world leaders, an unhealthy love of wealth, and a need to “fix” everything. The sad shape of the world humans lived in at the time. In 2007, 21 years later, the band Disturbed released a cover of the same song. The world we humans live in is in the exact state it was then, with the exact conditions and the same needs. Despair: full circle.
