The next thing I knew, Denise and I were sitting in Mr. Gainy’s office. She looked stunned.
“Now, Denise. we all know what you did. So, we are just here to figure out what kind of punishment you deserve,” said Mr. Gainy. He smiled slyly at me and looked back at Denise.
“I promise, I would never hurt my best friend!” Denise said. She looked over at me and I knew she wanted me to back her up. I didn’t know what to say. Mr. Gainy knew it wasn’t Denise and he was not going to admit it was him. And Denise knew she didn’t do it. So, I was just sitting here knowing the truth but too afraid to spit it out.
“S-S-sorry,” I shuddered. “But Denise, we all know it was you,” I said. I couldn’t believe myself. She looked over at me as her jaw dropped.
“Denise you will be suspended for a week and when you return, a month of detention,” said Mr. Gainy. Denise gave me a mad look and left.
“Bet you liked that, didn’t you?” asked Mr. Gainy. I sat there in anger. I felt like screaming at him but I couldn’t. I wouldn’t dare.
