Just A Little Aquaphobic
We walked, hand in hand, to the creek. When we made it there I stripped off my socks and shoes and sat down on the rock, dangling my feet in the water. I shivered as I dipped my feet into the cold water.
Her: Is it cold?
Me: Yes.
She sat down, cross legged, beside me. I wrapped my arm around her, pulling her closer. Me: But I’m getting warmer.
She smiled, blushing and looking away.
Me: So are you going to tell me what you were thinking?
She rolled her eyes. Her: It wasn’t anything, really.
Me (Teasing): Maybe if I dump you in the water…?
She glared at me. Her: I’d like to see you try.
I grinned devilishly. Me: Ok.
I stood quickly, putting my arms under her armpits and pulling her upright. I swept her up so I was holding her cradled in my arms.
She squealed in surprise, most unlike her, and started struggling. I waded partway into the creek and she abruptly stopped. Instead, she clung to my neck so she wouldn’t fall. Not that I would have let her.
Me (suddenly curious): Are you afraid of water?
