I put Davincent down and burst out laughing. My laugh tinkled like high-pitched bells. I knew this because Davincent just thought it. I looked at him curiously, “Does it really?’
“What?” he asked, out loud, needlessly.
“My laugh, does it tinkle like high pitched bells?” I clarified.
“Oh,” he blushed, “Yes.”
I already knew the answer before he spoke it.
I pricked my ears, “Melisizwe is coming, shall we depart?”
This time he used his mind to reply.

I chuckled and nodded. We set off down the winding passages. I tuned out most of the thoughts drifting through walls, it was awkward to always be invading everyone’s privacy. The emotions were a little overbearing, but I’d learned to deal with that too.
