Gasping for Air
One morning the young boy wakes up in a great deal of pain. He sits up and gasps violently for air. The cancer that has been plauging his body has recently taken up residence in his lungs. Making the smallest breaths difficult and painful.
The father notices his son struggling to breathe. He rushes over to him. “What is it son? What’s wrong?” “Sharp pain in chest. hard to breathe” The boy replied between labored breaths. “Can I get you something to ease your pain son?” The father asked in a paniked tone. “My inhaler please” The boy requested. As he pointed to the end table. The father quickly grabbed the inahler and handed it to his son.
The boy took the inahler and pumped medicine into his chest. Followed by two deep breaths. He then looked at his father with a look of gratitude. “Thanks” he said.
“Dad, there is something I want to say to you.” “What is it son?” The father asked as he took his sons hand.
