“Now, give us the phone!” said Michelle. She took the phone from me as tears started coming to my eyes. Nick would never go out with me now! It was over. I slid under the covers of my bed and hid my face under my pillows. Now what?
It was 10:00 and I was watching TV down in the living room when they came home. The door flew open to my sisters, their lovely dates, Nick, and Miley. They were all laughing and looked as if they had a great time, without me. Nick stopped dead in his tracks when he spotted me.
“We’re home!” said Lauren.
“Hey!” said Joe. He came and sat down next to me.
“Hi,” I said with no expression.
“What’s the matter?” asked Kevin who came and sat down, too.
“Nothing, you wouldn’t understand,” I said.
“Oh! Hi!” said a peppy voice. It was Miley.
“You must be….” she trailed off.
“Jessica,” said Nick. He was still standing in the door way. He looked nervous.
“Nice to meet you Jess” said Miley.
“You, too.” I said, turning away.
