She glared at the driver. It was intentional. She was livid.

Her phone rang. She glanced at the screen and answered.

“Oh my God, Jay, you better be on the way right now to pick me up,”

“Beth, listen…I simply cannot get to you right now. I will have someone from the studio come and pick you up, but it’s gonna’ be at least a half-hour,” Jay said slowly, as if she were dumb.

“A half-hour? Are you kidding me? Is this how high I rate with you guys, Jay? I mean, I’ve got Lawrence Nobles calling me once a week begging me to come over to Status. You think Lawrence Nobles would leave me on the side of the road with an incompetent driver?”

The limo driver peeked around the hood of the car as he dusted off his hands.

“Hey, lady…when you shout like that, I can hear every word,”

“Okay,” Jay sighed. “First off, leave the driver out of this. Second, I’m sick of hearing about Larry Nobles, okay? Either take his offer or shut up, Beth. You got that?”

“Yes,”

He hung up on her.
