A Convergence Of Events, Part 2
She glared at the driver again, although he couldn’t see her. He was still staring under the hood of the car and she was inside a small streetside diner.
She saw the waitress coming over and quickly put on her sunglasses before the woman got to the table. She also flicked her bangs forward and slumped in her chair. She was an expert in disguise by now.
It must have worked, because the waitress took the order and left without saying anything.
Beth ordered some coffee and a sandwhich, then played with her phone as she waited. The diner was pretty busy, but she didn’t notice.
She was startled when she heard the man in the next booth speak to her.
“The waitress…that was good.”
Beth looked up.
_“I’m sorry?” _ she said quickly, with gravel in her voice.
“The whole disguise thing. It’s good. I mean, it works.”
She looked up at him. He looked mid-30’s, with dark, curly hair and bright eyes.
She immediately went into action.
“Please don’t say anything.”
He smiled. “Okay.”
