Awakening to Dusk
The gentle rocking of the boat wakes me from my slumber. It seems like it has been hours ago that I was lying here falling asleep. As I begin to wake up my head seems fine. Once I feel physically altert I begin to stand up. I make my way to the other side of the cabin, with no hesitation.
The steps are to my right, as I get closer to them I take them upstairs. It’s difficult to determine what time of day it is down in the cabin. After all that time asleep, it would be nice to breathe some fresh air.
As I make it to the deck I notice that it is almost dusk. I must have been asleep longer than I have thought. I look around to see if I notice anything diffrent, but I do not. Just the open water. No land in sight. Just endless ocean and the horizon miles infront of me.
I look for a radio or a walkie. Hopefully If there is one, somewhere, I can attempt to find out where I am. Or at least see if I can get a signal. Finally, I locate a radio and turn it on.. at first it’s static.. then a faint voice.
