Emily saw me and ran toward me and asked, “Why did you leave earlier today?!”
“Cause I had… stuff to do.” I replied.
The golden child didn’t say anything. She just stood there listening in. I guess she didn’t want to be part of this.
I started to tell Emily that I didn’t like Ashley anymore and that Lauren was all I needed. Emily replies with a big talk about how I should keep everything in priority and get everything straight.

I finally left without saying anything and walked home. I went to my bed and laid down.
Why does this happen to me?
I get up and go downstairs and into the kitchen. What Emily said was stuck in my head. I can’t stop thinking about it. It drove me crazy.
My phone rings and I answer.
“Hello?”
“Hey…”
“Who is this?”
“This is Lauren.”
“Lauren? You don’t sound like yourself.”
“I’m just sick is all.”
