Do You Expect Me to Kill my Own Brother?
“Why do you think he would test willingly?” Melisizwe asked this question out of shock.
“Because he would, if I asked him too,” I turned towards my brother, my eyes pleading. This was the only way to keep him alive, he had to know that.
His dark eyes sparkled as they flitted from one face to the other before finally resting on mine. They softened ever so slightly. He nodded.
I turned back, triumphant, “Like I said, perfect.”
There was a pause, minds were whirling. Ranulf finally spoke, “I agree.”
There was a chorus of ‘aye’s and I breathed a sigh of relief. Davin then decided to blow my cover, “Wait… are you… are you Asija?”
My brother stiffened. Everyone was staring at Davincent, and then at my brother Asija, and then at me.
I sighed, “He’s my brother godammit, do you expect me to kill my own brother?”
Melisizwe opened his mouth, planning the scathing words that made me flinch before he said them. But Ranulf cut him off with a furious glare, “Of course not, Fae. Now let’s go start on this idea.”
