Willingly
There was a momentary silence for them, for me it was like everyone was shouting their thoughts in every direction. Confusion, curiosity, and respect from someone… but I couldn’t identify who in the hubbub.
“Why?” asked Melisizwe in shock.
I gave him my best disgusted look, “Because it would be really nice to know how to get rid of an Assassin without having to use me.”
“That’s logical,” said Ranulf, “If there were some way to find an easy antidote we could use it on the battlefield.”
“And if it isn’t easy?” asked Melisizwe.
“Then we can’t say we didn’t try,” I cut in.
“Ok,” said Melisizwe, his mind whirling to find a fault in my plan, “But why this assassin? Why can’t we just start looking for a cure and then wait for another. No point in just keeping one in a cell and having to worry about it when we don’t know anything yet. We’ll have to do research.”
“Which is why he’s perfect,” I said quietly. They stared. “He’ll answer all your questions, he’ll test willingly.”
