A New Land
Where the hell am I? Am I dreaming, or is this death after all? Or is this place actually real? It’s so far from anything I’ve ever seen before, there’s no way it could be real. Because I sure as hell didn’t get here by any normal sort of human means. The first thing I notice is that it’s cold here. It’s dark, too, but not like before. There’s a little light, coming from pale orange lights in the sky – at least, I’m assuming it’s a sky. I can’t see much, but the light is reflecting on something ahead of me. Water, I think. But then I get closer, and realize that it’s still, and hard. But it doesn’t feel like ice. It feels like glass. “What the hell?” I say to myself. My voice sounds strange, echoing around me. I shiver unconsciously, and stand up to see what else is in this strange place.
