Gentrax Secondary

It was the first day of a new school year. It was also David’s first day out of Public School and into that most respectable of institutions known as Gentrax Secondary School. It was 8:05 in the AM and the school loomed in front of David as his mother piloted the car expertly through throngs of variously aged teens who were all crowding the road that led up to the schools front entrance.

“You know how lucky you are right?â€? His Mom said, looking over at him while honking the horn and swerving around a short girl who had accidentally dropped her book bag.

“This is the first high school to be completely funded by a corporation, extremely hard to get into.â€? She smiled. David hated his mothers smile, it was too perfect. She was a former ‘B’ movie actress and the teeth were her pride and joy from those days.

“Not every kid gets this kind of opportunity, you’re getting the sort of chances your father and I didn’t.â€? That smile stayed plastered there. It was like the bottom of her face belonged to someone else.
