Remembering Epiphany
Hm, Drew was skipping. I knew this because I should have sixth hour with him. I thought about this as I headed home. I had overdone it with the mention of Cynthia’s name, I decided. But there was that look on face… the one I couldn’t define, when I’d said his secrets were safe with me. I considered that for a while, wondering what that could mean. His expression had been illogical, it had seemed… epiphanic. You would think that would be a positive reaction, but his vocal reaction had been negative. That I-don’t-think-so ‘ok.’
I got home and hopped out of my Bug, hurrying into my small and cozy house. I dropped the keys on the mantle and checked my messages.
Mom, of course.
Hello Honey! I was just seeing how you were doing up in cold Nebraska… Are you sure you don’t want to come home?
I rolled my eyes in exasperation.
Well, anyway, just call me back when you get this message, your father and I are dying to hear from you!
I snorted at the last part. My father. Yeah right.
