Haven’t read this series, but it sounds like a nice hardboiled detective tale. And I like the title; that’s what really drew me in. =)

I absolutely hate the word pit, especially when associated with -stains. It gives me the creeps. But, I like the detective element of this grand mystery.

I think it should be “remnants” and not “remnents”

I must agree with Kermy on this one.. it is rather gritty. You really get inside this guys head and you can see where his concerns lie.
