A New Project
He walked up the gravel path, purposely crunching the rocks as much as possible, in the hope that she would turn around this time.
That did not happen.
He bowed politely to her back, and cleared his throat.
Still no answer.
So he went for the direct route. “I see we acquired a new castle overnight, Milady. Will it be receiving the standard treatment?”
“Not this time.” She still kept her back to him. “I want it tied where it is, in the same position and height. And with a proper foundation beneath. I want to be able to get into the thing this time.”
“But, Milady, the gardens…”
“I will not be needing them anymore. Tear it out.”
He tried not to look shocked. He finally gasped out, “As you wish, Milady.”
She turned to face him, her expensive silks rustling in the movement. “This one is important, and must be done quickly. I expect your plans by tomorrow at nightfall.” She turned back to facing the castle yet again.
He bowed to her back once more, and all but sprinted back to the manor house.
