Remembering Chatter
I scowled to myself, wondering how I was going to deal with Paige. She was looking to become a serious problem. A seriously annoying problem. I’d probably have to see her at lunch, so that’s when I’d tell her to leave me alone and that, no, she could not come over tonight. I sighed, I would probably have to do some talking. Not my thing.
I sat down at lunch and, sure enough, another tray dropped down in front of me, “Heya Drew!” she said grinning and before I could speak she went into overdrive, “I am so excited for tonight, because even if you do listen to your iPod all the way through class you have got to know what’s going on better than me. I’m totally lost and it’s only been one day. Maybe we can study Saturday too? At my house though, of course, I wouldn’t want to intrude. Ooh, is your mom going to be home? I’ve heard she’s a nice lady, I would love to meet her…”
I gave up, obviously I wasn’t going to be able to get a word in edgewise. I waited, she’d have to stop to eat eventually…
