Sides Taken

Sioni stood between her mother and Ridda, and Alfred joined her. “What are you talking about, Ridda?” She murmured, “My mother wouldn’t have made a deal with Helen, she tried to kill me.”

“No, Sioni.” Eva whispered, coming out of her stupor, “She didn’t want to kill you.” Ridda’s stood, her face smug, “She wanted to kill me, out of revenge.”

“Can you still not understand why?” Ridda scoffed, “Are you so blind to your own misdeeds?” She looked at Helen’s face, confused even in death, so beautiful. “You took everything from her, her entire life. I’d say offering your death so your child may live is a fitting punishment for such a horrid action. Did you make the bargain with her?” Her tone was dangerous.

“I…” Eva looked into the eyes of her daughter, so filled with shock, “I do deserve this. But does my daughter deserve her mother’s death?” Ridda shook her head in disbelief.

“You dare bring Sioni into this? It was only your lack of cooperation that got her taken in the first place. You did this.”
