John instantly grabbed her hand and pulled her back up. The two of them sat there holding onto each other, their breaths fast and shallow and their hearts racing. “I guess they’re not as sturdy as you thought.” John said jokingly once he was back to his old self.

Ally glared at him coldly. “Thanks for saving me, but I could’ve gone without the joking.”

“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.” John replied, still laughing. Ally just rolled her eyes and stepped over the hole in the stairs and continued on. John stood up and followed her. “Be—” He was cut off by Ally’s reply. “Careful. I know, i know. Gosh you’re worse than my…..” She trailed off, not wanting to say it.

John realized what she was about to say and he frowned. “It’s ok to mention her you know.” Ally stopped and looked at him for a moment before continuing to journey up the stairs, curious as to what she would find.

John sped up until he was right behind her, ready to catch her if the stairs gave way again.
