I like that these are written in first person. Makes it easy to pull for the main character right from the start. Or maybe there’s some reason we shouldn’t? LoA
Actually, I’d been debating with myself whether to write it in first – or third-person. I decided on first because it really exposes the character more, and as you said, pull for him.
I think it works much better in first than it would in third. Good choice. That note about the little girl automatically brought images of Richard Pryor in The Toy. I’m sure that’s not the direction you’re going though. =P
I like the sense that the character is peripherally aware of how things are in this world but also a little naive to how he should entirely act (staring too long at the girl).
