Eve stared at the charts for what seemed like forever to Isaac. “Evie, remember, in,” Isaac rocked back in his chair then forward, “and out,” as he demonstrated his expert breathing technique.
She barked a laugh, eyes glittering with what he thought might be tears. “You.. have got to be kidding me,” she said, “but how did.. Wait, how did you get this.” Her face suddenly serious and making a statement instead of asking a question.
The wrinkle between her brow that only appears when she is in deep thought suddenly made a showing. He knew he was about to be in deep trouble. “Now before you go apeshit,” he was getting up from his chair before she rounded the table, “I told you where I was when you called.”
She had balled up her fists already, mouth set. “You said at the library, Evie, don’t worry. What frikkin’ library Isaac?!” She kicked his chair under the table and kept after him, though he’d entered the livingroom.
The bathroom door locked and from the opposite side he said, “Vatican.”
