Land of Confusion: Codename Patience
Eve kicked the bathroom door once. Putting her face as close to the crack between the frame and door as she dared. Through gritted teeth she said, “Be glad you are in my house Isaac, or else this door would be down by now.” It was Isaac’s turn to laugh, but all he managed was a weak, “You’re welcome.”
She growled in frustration and kicked at the air. (A fly on the wall would have seen a bad impression of the Elaine Benes Dance.) She leaned against the wall and slid down to sit on the floor just outside the bathroom. Eve could have returned to the livingroom, but to make her point she preferred to stay posted at the door.
Isaac took a position on the throne. “You can’t stay in there forever, you know,” she called to him from the hallway. “Sure I can,” he countered as he reached for a smoke. It was his turn for a jerk dance. She heard the swish of leather jacket and thud of a boot against the tub. The most evil of all grins spread her lips as she saw his forgotten cigarettes on her kitchen table.
