Ficlets

I am Jesse

I drove over to the cafe, reaching across to shotgun where Ceirra was sitting, and taking her hand. I laced my fingers in hers and she blushed, looking out the window pensively. When I glanced over at her a few times, she muttered, “Eyes on the road.”
Must be feeling conflicted, I decided. To me, relationships are a fairly simple thing. You like each other, you date, if there’s a problem you can’t fix (or can’t be bothered to fix), you break up. But I knew, to most people, it wasn’t this simple. It probably didn’t help that Shyam was technically sorta kinda her boyfriend. (Although that had probably fallen out after Jira had showed up). We reached the cafe and I jumped out, running around the car so I could open the door for her.
I’ve discovered that proving chivalry isn’t dead typically makes girls swoon. Ceirra is no exception. When she gets out, she’s blushing, but obviously pleased. I intertwine my fingers in hers again and walk into the cafe, Anima and Jake trailing behind.
