Alex in Wonderland - Part 1
It was one of those sprawling 80’s affairs and in its heyday, Wonderland Mall had been the ultimate shopping spot and teenage hangout. Now it was an aging dinosaur, a relic of a bygone era. Most of its stores closed, those that remained were hanging on by a thread.
Yet it had a great food court that pulled in many a hungry office worker from a nearby uptown business district, probably the only thing that kept it going.
That’s what brought Alex to the mall, cheap food within walking distance. Being a child of the 80’s himself however, coming here was bittersweet.
She was like a grand old Dame, reliving memories of the past. He always wondered what it would have been like to be here in her glory days. The feeling always left him a bit sad and somewhat homesick for the 80’s.
The real gem though was now a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant that had been built at the same time as the mall and, with the exception of a little paint, hadn’t been touched since. It was the great Tex-Mex that kept him coming back.
