Ficlets

I am Ceirra

I stared as he pulled out sandwich after sandwich. Who, God help me, makes a million sandwiches for their first date? I was about to start crying because, as totally ridiculous as it was, it was so ridiculously sweet.
“Is that… ok?” he asked nervously.
I took a deep breath, holding my hand to his cheek and leaning forward, kissing him softly. I pulled away slightly, but not very far, “Yes it’s ok. It’s silly… but it’s ok.”
I felt his hand press against my cheek and we sat there, staring at each other in the dim light of the flashlights.
It took all of my strength to tear myself away from his gaze and pick up a sandwich. I took it out and began eating it as Jesse packed the others away and started on his own. Being a guy with a ridiculously huge mouth (I was momentarily distracted by the latter part of that thought), he was done before me. He leaned back, propped up on his elbows, and gazed up at the stars that were begining to come out. “Beautiful, aren’t they?” he asked quietly.
I nodded quietly.
