I also find it funny that you referred to the shop keep as a woman. Not sure why though. I had thought of the shop keep as a him, maybe it’s the gender bias?

I did.. (Refer to the clerk as a “she” didn’t really mean to. Bad habit.) I was actually trying to decide whether in the 80’s more clerks would have been male or female. Didn’t know how long it would take to find statistics, so I just went with she.

Actually, I liked the she, it fit perfectly. I kind of imagined the clerk being a younger person, possibly working a first job. It fit perfectly.
